The Pioneer Award was established in 1998 by Bob and Pat Spalding to recognize person who give much of their time and enrgy to help ensure the growth of Graves County and its communities. The Pioneer Award has been awarded to over 100 people including individuals ranging from state senators and school teachers to church volunteers and civic leaders.
Each year, Graves County awards an individual or couple who share their time, talents or treasures to help the young, the old or the needy. The award is presented at the Fancy Farm Picnic.
This year, District 1 Congressional Representative James Comer, presented the award to Jimmy Elder of Fancy Farm. He was given the award for his life-long service to the community and dedication to the St. Jerome Catholic Church.
The Pioneer Award
